Dallas CrimeWatch is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization (IRS Tax ID No. 26-2827496), incorporated in the State of Texas. The Dallas Crime Watch is a local community based Interactive Community Policing (ICP) and Homeland Security project. ICP & homeland security work only as well as the local participation allows. The ICP unit of the Dallas Police Department maintains officers dedicated to local areas of the city and is very accessible to local community.
The goal of Dallas CrimeWatch is to provide a clearing house for the community to compile crime watch connection information and resources including government and law enforcement communications between the public and a connection mechanism between crime watch leaders and their local communities.
OakLawnCrimeWatch.org was founded in 1999 as a clearing house for information and a connection link between large and small crime watch groups and organizations in the Oak Lawn and Cedar Springs area of Dallas by Kevin Ward. The site quickly became popular among local community and crime watch leaders, politicians and the police department. Local neighborhood periodicals ran stories about the fledgling little site and after several years of growth and popularity became the Dallas CrimeWatch website connecting crime watch groups across the Dallas metroplex.
Dallas CrimeWatch was founded under the supervision of Crimewatch Association, a 501(c)3 not for profit corporation as a clearing house and networking connection point for Dallas and surrounding cities so that communities, crime watch leaders, politicians and law enforcement might communicate and coordinate more effectively to ensure our Dallas metroplex communities are managed in a safe, secure and orderly environment. A community effort to aid and support the homeland security of Dallas.
