Next Meeting

12:00 Noon
Wednesday December 17 2008
Oak Lawn Public Library
4100 Cedar Springs, Dallas 75219

This will be our "pot luck" luncheon so bring something to share with the group.  It would be nice to know ahead of time what you might be bringing.

Be on the lookout for white male suspects in pickups who are posing as City employees and targeting elderly persons.  They claim to be trimming trees and indicate they have seen animals getting into house attics and offer to remove them for a fee...they are NOT city employees and the trucks are not city vehicles.  There may be up to 7 suspects and the trucks vary in color.

There has been a dramatic increase in robberies of individuals in Oak Lawn.  Most of the suspects are using guns as weapons.  There have been 13 such robberies in the last month.

Oaklawn continues to have a very high number of burglary of motor vehicles in spite of the recent arrests made by Central division in the UpTown area.

Don't forget about the Police Academy classes starting in Jan.  Contact DPD for application forms.  Phone numbers are below.

About Our Group

The Oak Lawn Cedar Springs Crime Watch is a group of concerned residents and business owners who meet with officers from Central and Northwest Dallas Police divisions to discuss neighborhood issues. The officers provide up-to-date crime statistics and inform us of developing trends and individual incidents occurring in our area. We meet at noon on the third Wednesday of each month at the Oak Lawn branch of the Dallas Library. Our meetings are open to everyone and are regularly attended by members of other city departments in addition to the police. Our meeting lasts for one hour, but attendees are encouraged to remain to discuss individual issues with city staff afterwards. We usually have lunch provided by a sponsor and a guest speaker to address issues identified by group members.

Our group is Co-sponsored by the Oak Lawn Library.
